Thursday Thoughts: The Homemade Christmas

Because finances are so tight this holiday season, I decided back in September to make all the gifts for our extended family by hand. Ever since I learned to crochet I’ve become a big of a yarn hog, and I’ve also got a ridiculous amount of fabric because there’s a seamstress in me somewhere begging to be given lessons, so I figured I could make something for nearly everyone just using what I had in my stashes. So here we are, 10 days out from Christmas, and I’m about…oh…50% done with the gifts. Not encouraging, though it could certainly be worse. Monday Musings: Great Games for Little Kids

This is the earliest I’ve ever had my Christmas shopping done, and I must say I’m quite relieved to know the pressure is off to beat the clock. But for those of you who are still looking for gifts for your kids ages 3-8, I thought I’d post some Morrow Family Favorites to give you a hand. We love games here at Casa Morrow. Board and puzzle games particularly–especially when they make you think. (When you’re a homeschooler, you tend to look for games that require more of the players than simply rolling a die and moving some spaces.) I grew up at a church that eschewed tradition in the hopes of making church more appealing to people who had been turned off by religion. As a result, my knowledge of church history and tradition was virtually nil until I met my husband, who happens to know quite a lot about them both.
